Hector "JR" Garcia

hectorHector "JR" Garcia only started playing tennis at the age of 16, yet the sport
has shaped his life. Growing up in D'Hanis, Texas, JR played baseball, basketball, tennis and ran track. He made it to the high school state tournament for tennis twice in his high school career. JR then attended Prairie View A&M where he played #3, #4, #5 and #6 singles. His team won the conference in 2005 and JR was team captain in 2003, 2004 and 2005.

After graduating, he taught at the Zina Garrison All Court, where he had been working since the summer of 2004. He then returned to Prairie View A&M to become an assistant coach. JR was also a Health and Fitness Instructor at the university.

JR graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Human Performance and a minor in Mathematics (Prairie View A&M '05).

JR's outgoing personality and his strong character make him an inspiring teacher and coach. He enjoys working with kids of all levels, helping build the values that make a successful tennis player and person.
